So many games.
Dead Space is fun. My only real gripe with it is lack of setting the right atmosphere, or at least providing at atmosphere that isn't cliche and predictable. Also, combat is fun, but the enemies like to give you plenty of time to spread their arms and either prepare for a hug or prepare for you to aim a shot that will sever said appendage. Otherwise, it's a pretty good game.
Fable 2, I enjoy. The story is, of course, average at best, but who plays Fable for the story, anyway? No, you play it because it's the first game where you can get an STD. Or something.
Both Dead Space and Fable 2 have a magic little "line" that you follow and it leads you to wherever you're supposed to go. While in Dead Space it was a very handy tool, it really took a lot out of Fable for me. Considering Fable is an RPG, a non-linear RPG no less (at least in terms of exploration and roleplaying elements), it forces you to say "Well, I could go exploring and looking for treasure, or I could keep following this beautiful, compelling, wonderfully glowy line that takes me straight to my heart's desire. My dog will find any treasure, anyway".
That's another thing. The dog. I'm sure some people find it adorable, or maybe even a clever game mechanic. I don't. Why am I throwing a ball for a dog? Oh, right. So it will tell me to go places so I don't have to bother exploring them myself. I preferred the dog in the Bard's Tale remake.
The lack of mana or MP or any kind of armour is a bit strange as well. I mean, I can get around that, sure. Especially because the Elizabethan style of the game is pretty cool, and I like to wear big piratey hats. My only other complaint against Fable is that the lack of a mini map, and the fact that they took out features from the first game that were completely necessary, such as being able to hotkey expressions and items, rather than trust the game to figure out what you want to say to someone for you.
Otherwise, the game has a fun combat system, and co-op is really enjoyable. Every game needs co-op - and not have to make you buy two Xboxes and two copies of the game and have two Gold accounts to play it, either.
Lastly, there's Fallout 3. I get shakes just typing the name. I have sworn off of it, lest my corpse be found, Xbox controller in hand, having spent the last week or two playing and not eating or sleeping or peeing or writing or working or making comics or anything I do with my regular time.
The game is too good. Stay away.
